We at Milestone are looking for a Groundworks Operative / Construction Worker / Labourer to join our Highway Maintenance team based at our depot in Sandford and working across the North Somerset area. A training and development programme will be provided to develop your competence in this role and to prepare you for a career path with Milestone.
Our Highways team keep communities moving. Join us to help construct and maintain North Somerset Highways. This role is ideal for someone new to the industry with little or no experience in civil engineering and roadworks but with a desire to learn and develop a career in this industry. You will be working as part of a 2, 3 or 4 person team delivering small highway maintenance and improvement projects, whilst also willing to assist with the out of hrs winter maintenance and emergency call out activities via a standby rota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on small highway, footpath, drainage, signing and kerbing projects.
- Operate plant and equipment necessary for the project delivery
- Undertake out of hours emergency call out works
- Undertake out of hrs winter maintenance driver duties
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Clean driving License
- A commitment to Health and Safety
- Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy
- Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers
- Willingness to assist in Emergency Response duties
- Commitment to Customer Service
Desirable:
- CSCS Card
- Small tools and equipment training

- Basic salary range of £19,250 – £22,500pa this is dependent on previous experience, skills and qualifications
- OTE - £20,750 - £24,000 with contractual Overtime and Standby
