Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit a Design Engineer to work on our Suffolk Highways contract in Ipswich. We have multiple design engineer opportunities within this team.
As a Design Engineer you will be part of our Design team who are responsible for producing design solutions to maintain and improve highway infrastructure in Suffolk.
Milestone Infrastructure has been awarded Suffolk’s new highways services contract, which will begin on 1 October 2023 and run for up to 20 years. The contract will deliver highways projects and improvements across Suffolk in addition to highway maintenance activities.
As a Design Engineer your duties & responsibilities will be:
- Produce design packages, reports and other deliverables to achieve project outcomes;
- Organise and undertake site visits and surveys
- Deliver successful projects to agreed time and cost expectations whilst ensuring work is undertaken in compliance with internal quality standards and processes;
- Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
- Resource planning and co-ordination of multi disciplinary teams, including sub consultants;
- Staff and people management including training and development and staff performance reviews;
- Working collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives and deliverables;
- Managing, building and developing customer relationships.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Incorporated Engineer or highly experienced engineer working towards IEng / CEng;
- Design and construction experience in the highways/Drainage/Structures sector
- A commercial awareness in the delivery of projects
- Awareness / experience of Local Highway Authority standards
- Evidence of developing assistant engineers, graduates and technicians
- Working knowledge of programming tools such as ASTA
- Evidence of managing Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software including for drainage, alignment and traffic signs desirable.
- Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word
- UK/EEC driving licence
