Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit a Highway Design Engineer to work on our Hampshire Highways Contract.

Milestone Infrastructure have been delivering a Term Maintenance Contract (TMC) with Hampshire County Council (HCC) to carry out highway's maintenance and improvement schemes on their network. The contract, which continues to 2029, includes the delivery of individual highway improvement projects.

As the Highway Design Engineer your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Produce design packages, reports and other deliverables to achieve project outcomes;
  • Organise and undertake site visits and surveys
  • Deliver successful projects to agreed time and cost expectations whilst ensuring work is undertaken in compliance with internal quality standards and processes;
  • Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Resource planning and co-ordination of multi disciplinary teams, including sub consultants;
  • Staff and people management including training and development and staff performance reviews;
  • Working collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives and deliverables;
  • Managing, building and developing customer relationships.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Incorporated Engineer or highly experienced engineer working towards IEng / CEng;
  • Design and construction experience in the highways sector
  • A commercial awareness in the delivery of projects 
  • Awareness / experience of Local Highway Authority standards
  • Evidence of developing assistant engineers, graduates and technicians
  • Working knowledge of programming tools such as ASTA
  • Evidence of managing Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software including for drainage, alignment and traffic signs desirable. 
  • Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • UK/EEC driving licence
