Wiltshire Winter Maintenance Driver – Zero Hours
About The Role:
We at Milestone Infrastructure, part of MGroup Services, are looking for part time HGV Cat C (Class 2) drivers, with CPC, to work on the Wiltshire Highways Maintenance contract as Winter Maintenance drivers. The drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract to cover the Winter Maintenance season from November 2024 until April 2025. We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a zero hours contract basis.

Your role will be:
- To drive a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle for the duration of the winter maintenance season, being allocated to a rota within the Wiltshire area.
- To be on standby alternate weeks i.e. one week on standby followed by one week off throughout the winter maintenance season.
- To undertake the gritting of the roads on your allocated route and all the associated activities required to deliver the Winter Service.
- To arrive at the designated Highways Depot, within 60 minutes from receiving the gritting instruction
We are looking for:
- A full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC is essential.
- A valid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience. If, however, training is required, training for the City and Guilds qualification will be arranged and the above mentioned temporary contract will be extended to cover this.
Shifts and Pay Rates:
The Winter Maintenance Season will commence on the 1st November 2024 and will finish on the 31st March 2025. Drivers must commit to being on standby alternate weeks for the duration of the service. A week starts at 07.45 on the Friday and finishes at 07.45 am the following Friday. When you are on Standby, you can be called out at any time to undertake a grit run.
Additional Standby payment of £150.00/week.
