Milestone is currently looking to recruit a Store / Depot Maintenance Operative to work on our Suffolk Highways contract in Rougham.
Suffolk Highways is a new contract secured by Milestone in 2023 for up to 20 years. Under the contract we are responsible for delivering a wide range of highway maintenance and improvement activities to Suffolk County Council. You will enable us to meet our key contract aim of ensuring high quality highway services are delivered for the benefit of residents, businesses, and highway users in Suffolk.
The Store / Depot Maintenance Operative is part of our Operations team, reporting to the Area Manager. Your main responsibilities will be to provide depot stock control and management, Plant management, ordering, receiving and managing depot materials inc. PPE and general depot management for compliance.
Your main duties & responsibilities will be:
- Set up and manage depot stock list and manage levels across all work types.
- Use of Causeway to manage, receive and book the following:
- Stock levels
- Raise requisitions for depot stock and materials to planned jobs
- GRN when materials received
- Allocation of costs to individual jobs for stock items
- Manage depot plant, hire & off hire and allocation to gangs, ensure all plant allocated in Causeway
- Monthly stock take audits, update stock sheet in Causeway
- Maintain depot material deliveries
- Organise or undertake minor depot repairs
- Management of waste in depots to ensure compliance
- Undertake Compliance checks as needed
- Maintain fuel levels where appropriate
- Ensure yard is kept tidy and depot rules adhered to
- Manage Health & Safety requirements within the depot
- Undertake winter and emergency maintenance out of hours activities on a standby rota.
We're looking for:
- Clean driving license, HGV class 2 preference
- Good IT skills
- CSCS card
- Previous experience preferred but not essential
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Good communication skills
- Practical and organised approach
- Willing to work in all weathers and unsociable hours as required
- Experience/certificated to operate small plant
- A commitment to Health and Safety
