We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join the team and learn alongside our experienced engineers about how to be responsible for the daily control, management, and coordination of construction activities on site to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the required safety, environmental and quality standards. With the support of your work-based mentor, your responsibilities will increase as your skills and technical knowledge develop. The roles is based within our Oxfordshire projects team who are responsible for delivering major projects across the county. Typical projects include Highways improvements and structures
Entry Requirements
- You must have the permanent Right to Work in the UK
- BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering. Minimum 2:2
Key responsibilities:
- Management of all engineering activities including engineering control, setting out and providing direction to workforce
- Leading Quality control systems to ensure compliance with project design and specifications
- Ensuring the highest possible Health, Safety & Environmental standards are employed across all projects, adhering to Milestone Infrastructure’s health and safety policy/ environmental policy and actively supporting the behavioural safety culture that is an integral part of the Milestone Infrastructure’s working environment
- Meet client expectations and ensure excellent communication skills with all project stakeholders
- Survey & Engineering Control -Responsible for checking all sub-contractor and direct labour works
- Reviewing design and proposing solution by raising RFI's and communicating to relevant parties i.e. Designers / Sub Contractors
- Materials ordering and approvals
- Working with the Site Agent in monitoring HSEQ aspects of the project including Project Health and Safety File.
- Assist managing the permit process including CAT scanning and issuing Permits
- Keep accurate records including site diary, records of works activities, resource allocations and as-built information using AutoCAD
- Input into collaborative planning for site work
- Mentoring and line managing apprentice engineers
Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of National Highways standards such as the DMRB and MCDHW (preferred)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and Construction Design Management (CDM) in design and construction
- Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word, and AutoCad (desirable)
- Driving License compulsory
