Highways Operative
Deddington, Oxfordshire
We are looking for a Highways Operative to join our Highways team in Oxfordshire to undertake duties associated with the maintenance and construction of public highways maintained on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council. You will work at our Deddington depot nr Banbury in Oxfordshire, with expectations to travel in the surrounding areas to complete work where necessary.

The successful candidate must be available to undertake winter and emergency maintenance out of hours activities on a standby rota basis throughout the year.
As the Highway Operative your duties & responsibilities will be:
- Work on Highways furniture, equipment and similar fixtures (e.g. Erection, maintenance, fixing and/or dismantling)
- Drive all of the plant and equipment necessary for the required disciplines for maintenance and drainage on Highways and Network following successful training.
- Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge. Complete site paperwork as required.
- Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives
- Represent the business when out on the highway network and retain good standards when dealing with or working around members of the public.
- Carry out your duties in a safe manner to the Milestone policies and procedures. Complying with all health and safety regulations in the process.

- Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers – you will be required to assist in Winter Maintenance duties
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

- CSCS Card
Desirable:
- New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Operative Accreditation
- LGV Class C driving license / HGV license.
Additional Information
- You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools.
- You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers and be required to walk and stand on uneven ground.
- You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction.
