About The Role

Milestone Infrastructure is a forward thinking and inclusive business delivering multiple and varied civil engineering projects across Hampshire on a long term contract for the public sector. We have a requirement for a Graduate Scheme Agent to work on civil engineering projects from ECI stage through to completion and handover. This is a site-based role with travel to local sites in Hampshire, our depots and our head office. The role is suited to people with a background in civil engineering and is a great opportunity to develop a career in civil engineering. The role will be appointed within our Agent Career Grade and provide an ideal opportunity for someone to develop their career with structured training and competency development. Applicants can expect an interesting range of projects to get involved in with the opportunity to further develop their skills and qualifications.

The Graduate Scheme Agent reports to Schemes Managers and will work within a dynamic team, liaising directly with clients, designers and subcontractors. The Graduate Scheme Agents are responsible for the planning and supervision of in-house and subcontract resources undertaking the following duties:

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Manage and supervising schemes on-site to ensure that work is carried out safely, on time, to budget and in accordance with the HSEQ standards required by Milestone
  • Efficient organisation of labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources
  • Liaise with other stakeholders as required to deliver schemes (network managers, LA’s, community groups, Designers etc)
  • Ensuring Construction Phase Plans, Risk and Method statements and safe systems of work are in-place before work is started and that required safety standards are always maintained
  • Ensuring in-house and subcontractors site personnel are inducted and competent and fully trained to undertake their work
  • Fully engaged with commercial teams and takes responsibility for the commercial performance of the project
  • Keeping accurate records including site diary, records of works activities, resource allocations and as-built information
  • Supports the Scheme Manager to develop construction programmes, phasing plans along with Risk and Method statements
  • Develop relationships and work closely with Key Supply Chain partners
  • Assists with Early Contractor Involvement and build ability considerations including Traffic Management incorporating
  • Participate in Value Management process and Value Engineering reviews as required
  • Compliance with Milestone way of working and QSE processes, procedures, reporting and performance requirements
  • Carryout health and safety audits on all sites as per monthly requirements

You'll have:

  • Driving licence
  • Competent computer skills
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • CSCS – ideally existing but training can be provided
  • SSSTS, SMSTS or IOSH – ideally existing but training can be provided
  • Ideally Degree Qualified and preferably in Civil Engineering or a related subject

Salary range flexible depending on experience and qualifications, plus car/van, generous pension, holiday and other benefits.
