About The Role

Milestone Infrastructure Ltd has ambition plans to grow in the highway maintenance sector and so we are strengthening our team with experienced leaders to help with this growth and ultimately support the delivery of a new highways contract. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a new contract from the outset, shaping the operational delivery and setting the future with our local authority clients.

You will provide commercial support and leadership to the work winning team and ensure that commercial discipline is maintained throughout as well as assist in guiding and developing all project staff on commercial issues.

As a Commercial Manager your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record change etc. Ensure all required notices are issued in a timely manner.
  • Identify unacceptable terms and conditions and negotiate contracts with clients and employers
  • Identification of unacceptable wording in bonds, warranties and other guarantees
  • Liaise with the customer, his representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues, including the agreement of additional monies.
  • Cost management for project
  • Value management for project
  • Change management for project
  • Risk and opportunity management for project
  • Procurement for project
  • Financial reporting for project
  • Manage commercial team to ensure delivery of above items and develop their knowledge.
  • Provide support and training for site staff on commercial issues.
  • Identification, preparation and negotiation of claims
  • Advise insurers of claims and assist with negotiations
  • Assist with dispute resolution
  • Understanding and good working knowledge of the NEC3 TSC Contract

 Skills& Knowledge Requirements

  • A comprehensive level of commercial experience preferably with a contracting organisation.
  • BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent construction related subject
  • Preferably qualified to ICES or RICS accreditation
  • Financially astute
  • Relevant CSCS Card
